Mediterranean Lighthouse Conference in Palermo

As the chair of the citizen’s engagement group of the Starfish mission board, Geneviève Pons is at the Mediterranean Lighthouse Conference in Palermo.

In her speech, she has commented three projects highlighting civil society actions within the EU Mission Restore our Ocean and Waters (Mission Ocean).

1) For the little ones, Martina the Starfish, is a small book presenting the importance of protecting the ocean, notably against plastic pollution.

2) For the older, Pepper the Robot is an interactive way to introduce ocean challenges to middle school children, through digital tools.

3) Finally, the project Med Odyssey 2025, aims to present the Mediterranean as a place of exchange between coastal regions and populations, linking notably Athens (Our Ocean Conference April 2024) and Nice (UNOC 3 June 2025).
