European Forum Alpbach

Since its founding in 1945, the European Forum Alpbach has brought together young people from Europe and all over the world with leading minds from politics, business, civil society, culture, and science. It aims to foster encounters, facilitate learning, and develop new ideas to strengthen European integration and Europe’s role in the world.

This year’s forum carries the theme “Moment of Truth”, reflecting the decisive moment the year 2024 will be for international politics against the background of the numerous elections taking place around the globe. After the European Elections of June 2024, discussions will address particularly the European Union’s priorities as it enters a new legislative cycle. The forum’s programme of panel discussions, seminars and workshops is divided across four thematic tracks, reflecting central challenges of our time: I) Climate, II) Security, III) Finance and Economy, IV) Democracy and Rule of Law.

Europe Jacques Delors has been selected to be a content partner for this year’s European Forum Alpbach. Our policy analysts will attend the event and report back on the discussions and their outcomes, focusing on the Democracy track. During the forum they will share their insights with other participants to foster exchange and learning across different sessions. In a comprehensive report published after the event, they will analyse the findings of this year’s European Forum Alpbach with regard to democracy and the rule of law in Europe.

Europe Jacques Delors will also be represented in speaking roles in various sessions. Director-General and Vice-President Geneviève Pons will join stakeholders from along the agri-food value chain for a discussion on regenerative agriculture on 28. August. Director of Studies and Development Sophie Pornschlegel, will speak at the closing session of the Forum’s “Europe in the World Days” on 27. August as well as at the session on reform priorities for the new European Commission on 29. August.
