Having joined the European Commission in 1986, Eneko Landaburu was Director-General of Regional and Cohesion Policy until 2000, then Director-General for Enlargement, and was Chief Negotiator with the candidate countries accession to the European Union until 2003. He was Director-General for External Relations until September 2009. From 1993 to 2000 he was a member of the Board of Directors of the European Investment Bank (EIB). Until 15 September 2009, Eneko Landabaru was Director General of the External Relations DG of the European Union. From 2009 to 2013, he was then Ambassador, Head of the Delegation of the European Union to the Kingdom of Morocco. He is a former Director General of the European Commission.
